Established in late 2019, BROWNIE Project is a contemporary art gallery dedicated to exploring the innovation and social impact of contemporary art amid a turbulent present. We represent artists whose concepts and artistic forms are exceptionally groundbreaking, supporting them to engage with the world through ever-evolving practices.
Our 6,500-square-foot gallery space in Shanghai, China, is conceived as a non-traditional exhibition platform, with curatorial focus centered on realizing artistic projects and artworks across diverse forms and narratives. We believe contemporary artists wield critical influence over current social contexts. As such, we prioritize multidisciplinary, socially engaged, and cross-media artists, facilitating collaborative exhibitions and projects between China, Europe, the Americas, and the Asia-Pacific region. We actively discover and support emerging talents as well as mid-career artists who continuously push creative boundaries.
BROWNIE Project also maintains a robust slate of parallel programs: CORRIDOR supports emerging Chinese multidisciplinary artists; BROWNIE w/ invites international galleries to co-curate exhibitions; and the Strange Attractor Program nurtures art-technology creative initiatives and educational practices—collectively fostering cross-cultural and trans-regional dialogue.
